August at The Spot was full of movement, music, battles, workshops, classes and community moments.

What happened in August

Collision Course

Collision Course brought Krump and Dancehall together in a music battle format that created a memorable battle space. We’re grateful to Ian, Naidah, Deco and the team for trusting our space with this new event.

Housemates Battle and Robin Chen workshop

We also hosted Housemates Battle, Boorloo’s first House battle, along with a workshop with Sydney-based house dancer Robin Chen. Between the battle rounds, the workshop and the community showing up, it was a strong highlight of the month. Big thanks to Logan, Illy and the Housemates team and community for growing the House scene at The Spot leading up to this big moment.

Weekly classes

While the events gave August its big moments, our regular weekly classes kept our communities consistent and committed to training and new experiences.

Winter merch bundles

Our winter merch bundles ran through August, the perfect chance to grab some cosy gear before the weather warmed up.

Looking ahead to September

As August wrapped up, September was already looking exciting:

• Amy Zhang workshops: pop-ups, intensives and workshops. The Open and Beginner pop-ups sold out, and the Beginner and Advanced Heels intensives gave dancers the chance to train foundations, build confidence and push themselves further.
• PB&J Vol. 11: another round of battle energy, music and community on Saturday 19 September.
• Welcome back Deco and Teisha: Teisha took over Beginner Commercial on Mondays at 6:15pm, and Deco brought back Beginner Dancehall on Fridays at 6:15pm.
• Farewell to Logan: Logan’s last House classes were on Monday 14 September before his move to London. Logan has taught at The Spot since the very start, and his impact on this community has been huge.
